Victoria Palace Theatre History and Design
The Victoria Palace Theatre was originally opened in 1911 where the old Royal Standard Music Hall used to stand. It was built by one of London’s premier architects, theatre designer Frank Matcham to offer a rich luxurious experience as it featured marble pillars with heavily ornamented plastered work. It has a roof that opened to air the concert hall on warmer days to keep it cool.
In 2016, Sir Cameron Mackintosh spearheaded a £20m+ renovation of the venue. For visitors, it brought Bigger Stage, extra legroom, additional toilets, and spacious new bars.
