Anaïs Mitchell’s Grammy and Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown is welcoming a new principal cast to the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. Stepping into the underworld, this latest lineup features an eclectic blend of pop royalty, acclaimed opera singers, beloved television actors, and West End veterans.

The Lovers: Orpheus and Eurydice
Nathan Sykes as Orpheus: Taking on the role of the idealist musician who journeys to the underworld is pop artist Nathan Sykes. Best known as a member of the chart-topping band The Wanted, Sykes trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School before embarking on a successful music career. Hadestown marks his official musical theatre debut.
Fayth Ifil as Eurydice: Playing opposite Sykes is Fayth Ifil, who first captured the public’s attention as a standout semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2020. Her West End credentials already include playing young Tina in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and appearing in Just for One Day.
The Rulers: Hades and Persephone
Shaun Dooley as Hades: Bringing a formidable stage presence and a deep, commanding voice to the King of the Underworld is television actor Shaun Dooley. Known for his roles in hit dramas such as Mr Bates vs the Post Office, Broadchurch, Criminal Record, and his recent stage work in The Hills of California, Dooley is making his musical theatre debut in Hadestown.
Danielle de Niese as Persephone: World-renowned opera soprano Danielle de Niese joins the cast as the goddess of spring and queen of the underworld. Having graced the world’s top opera houses, de Niese is no stranger to the West End, having previously starred in The Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum and Aspects of Love.
The Guide: Hermes
Malinda Parris as Hermes: West End favourite Malinda Parris steps into the feather-trimmed suit of Hermes to lead the story. Her extensive theatre credits include & Juliet, Matilda, Mary Poppins, Hercules, and originating the role of Lettie Lutz in The Greatest Showman arena tour.
The Fates, Workers, and Swings
The haunting harmonies of the three Fates are delivered by Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell, and Lauran Rae.
The hardworking Workers Chorus features Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham, and Sebastian Lim-Seet. Supporting the company as swings are Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi, and Milly Willows.
Saying Farewell to the Outgoing Cast
As the new company settles into the Lyric Theatre, the outgoing principals head off on fresh pursuits. Bethany Antonia (Eurydice) trades the underworld for the dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing, whilst Clive Rowe (Hermes) returns to the Hackney Empire for the Christmas pantomime season.
